Spring Break Music Workshop

Acting Through Song Spring Break Workshop 2023

March 31 and April 1 both from 5-7pm

Love to sing, but get stuck with how to involve your body while performing? Want to bring your song to life? Allison Williamson will be teaching an Acting Through Song workshop to dig into your character’s purpose and emotions while singing. This is a two day class, March 31 & April 1 from 5:00-7:00 PM, and it is open to ages 8 and up. Cost is $40 total for both days.  Prepare a 16-32 cut of any musical theatre song- it could be a future audition song or just a song you’d love to work on. Bring sheet music and make sure your phone has Bluetooth with a karaoke track for your song.

You will get one on one work with Allison, as well as watch other participants perform and get feedback. Half of the attendees will go Friday and the other half will go Saturday. You will work on how to incorporate purposeful moment and expression into your song and body to create the most authentic performance possible. You will also learn how to select songs to accent your strengths and how to successfully sing in your best sound with vocal health.

Allison Williamson is a music educator, private vocal instructor and director with The Biz. She received her BA in Vocal Music Education from Indiana State University in 2019, and has recently been seen as “Marian Paroo” in The Biz production of The Music Man, in the ensemble of Footlite’s Sweeny Todd, and will be in the chorus of The Magic Flute with the Indianapolis Opera Company this coming May.
