Biz Ambassadors
WHAT?
The Biz Ambassadors is a performance group of boys and girls who will be ambassadors for The Biz. As an ambassador, you will be required to rehearse weekly with the goal of preparing a repertoire for any type of performance opportunity. This group will be performance-ready when opportunities arise. Ambassadors may sing the National Anthem, perform at community performances, outreach opportunities, Chamber of Commerce meetings, and more. You may also be asked to help at show performances and other Biz or Biz Too activities where needed.
WHEN?
The Biz Ambassadors will meet on Wednesday evenings for 1.5 – 2 hours beginning in March and ending in November (there may be some performances in December). This group will rehearse throughout the summer. Breaks will be taken for most tech weeks and school vacations. This is 12 month commitment, after which you will re-audition.
WHO?
For boys and girls between the ages of 8-13. You MUST have participated in a Biz production, and you must have strong skills in singing and dancing, as well as an outgoing personality. We are looking for kids with stage presence!
COST?
Cost is $50/month. This fee includes a Biz Ambassadors shirt that will be worn when performing. (Each Biz Ambassador will need to provide black pants and possibly khaki as well. Khaki shorts may be needed, as well as appropriate footwear, TBD.) Ambassadors have the option to purchase a special jacket as well. In addition, because of the performance level required to be a Biz Ambassadors, all Ambassadors are encouraged to take as many classes as they can at half the cost. (workshops, camps, master classes, productions, and private lessons are not included.)
HOW?
Auditions are not currently available. When they are, you will need to have a monologue memorized, (no longer than 30 seconds), and an age appropriate song in your vocal range. (We will have an accompanist for you.) Choose a piece that also demonstrates your acting ability through song. The monologue can be something you have written or something from a play or musical. (Google “monologues for kids” if you need help finding something.) As part of the audition, you will also have an interview, that will include questions about why you are interested in The Biz Ambassadors and your leadership ability. The audition will conclude with a challenging dance audition, so bring your jazz or character shoes and a change of clothing.
WHY?
The mission of The Biz Ambassadors is to develop and inspire young performers through instruction in singing and dance, with the goal of entertaining and sharing the performing arts with our community. Our vision is to train the next generation how to effectively and respectfully communicate with adults as well as the youth in our community by presenting leadership opportunities that extend beyond stage performances. As the interest in musical theatre continues to rise, we want to build on that interest by sharing our art form with as many adults and youth as we can reach.
When becoming an Ambassador, please understand that this is a year-long commitment, and Wednesday evening conflicts should be extremely limited. We will have an attendance policy for you to sign. We expect you to be available for as many performances as possible, but also understand that without a set performance schedule, we can’t expect you to be available for all of them.
