James and the Giant Peach Jr. Week #7

A few changes have been made to the rehearsal schedule.
  • This Saturday is no longer and ALL CALL – those needing headshots taken will still need to come at 1:00 to have their picture taken but will not have to stay unless they are called. Please check the rehearsal calendar on The Giant Peach show page to see who is called Saturday.
  • Sunday’s rehearsal time has been changed but remains an ALL CALL.  Please check the rehearsal calendar on The Giant Peach show page for the time change.
  • Saturday, February 24th  the cast will be singing a few numbers at Barnes and Noble Bookstore in Plainfield. This is in support of a Booster Fundraiser. Please arrive no later than 12:45. Immediately following the performance we will head to The Biz for rehearsal.
All choreography videos have been uploaded to Youtube.  Please make sure your performer is practicing at home. I’ve noticed quite a few people are still wearing their thinking faces when rehearsing. Going thru each number once a day will make a big difference in muscle memory. Once they have the steps memorized, they can think about facial expression appropriate for their character. Jeff has put together some great choreo for this show. It’s up to your performer to make it fun and entertaining to watch and that can only happen with practice outside of rehearsal.

From the Costume Team
Parents,

The Costume Team has been working hard to costume your performers.  Many performers have several parts, so it would be helpful to us if every performer could bring in a plastic bin to contain his/her costume pieces so that we can keep track of what belongs to whom.  These are the same boxes that we keep backstage during Tech Week/performances where your performer will keep all of their belongings.  Your bin will return home with your performer after the final show.
  • Size:  most performers will be wearing a hat in at least one scene (if not more), so please keep that in mind when choosing the size of your box so that it can contain a hat(s) along with other costume pieces.  You will need something larger than the size of a shoebox, but not the large 18-gallon tote like you would store something in your attic.  A “medium” size plastic tote should work for most characters.  Garden Chorus, Garden Guild, Seagulls, Reporters, ensemble members in all black for the opening number, some Hollywood Agents, some Vagrants, and some cruise ensemble members will all need to wear hats.
  • Name:  please clearly label all sides of the box with the performer’s name, as they will need to be stacked in the Pink room for the next few weeks until we move to Harmony Baptist Church.  There are 69 performers, so please make it easy for us to sort/find your performer’s box.  It can be as simple as writing the name clearly on an index card and taping it to the box.  Thank you in advance!
  • Lid:  make sure you have a lid for your box!  We will need to stack these.
  • Bring:  please bring your box down to the “Pink Room” during rehearsal this Sunday, February 18 during the All Call rehearsal.
Thank you!
